One of our all-time favorite spring bulbs is the tulip. The best time to plant tulips bulbs into the garden in the Dallas area is after Thanksgiving, once soil temperatures are consistently below 50F and by the end of December. If you plant them too late, bulbs may emerge too early in spring and may not bloom properly. It does take a bit of planning to enjoy them in the spring, so let us take care of that for you. 

Tulips are often the first bulb to bloom in the spring so are a welcome pop of color after a dreary winter. They're known for their bold colors and beautiful shape, and most varieties are almost perfectly symmetrical. There are more than 14 known species and over 3,000 registered tulips, so there is literally something for everyone to love. 

The blooms have three petals and three sepals, but since the sepals are almost the same size and shape as the petals, tulips appear to have six petals to a bulb. We regularly use tulips to border evergreen beds, add height to layered flower beds and group them for a strong pop of color as can be seen in just a few examples of our installations below.
